Kane's Pad

Kane watched her movements, she seemed so headstrong one everything, except this - well he was wrong with that too - she was being headstrong in a stubborn way. "Kitten - do you want me to invite him in? You guys need to hash this out." If she wanted to be miserable, he wouldn't stand in her way.

" Just forget it Kane it's not that important and he's an unchangeable jerk end of story. But thank you I appreciate it I really do, you've done so much for me I can't thank you enough. "

Alec spoke as she walked towards Kane and gave him a thoughtful hug. She couldn't even think of another person she trusted without a thought. While they embraced, Alec heard a crash as the front door busted open.

" Get. Your. Paws. Off. Her. "

Miles sat outside observing Alec with the need to hold her when Kane did just that. She walked into the thug's arms.
Miles lost all thought and before he knew it, he plowed straight through the door and stood barely two feet from them, Alec for a saddened and pissed face. Kane, Miles couldn't even look at without wanting to tear his throat out as the alpha demanded of him.

" Get. Your. Hands. Off. Her "

Kane looked at her and shrugged. "It's your life - if you want to play 'dodge Miles' for the rest of your days, then have at it."

When she wrapped him in a hug, Kane smiled and kissed the top of her head. "What are friends for?" Just then he heard the door being pretty much ripped off its hinges - and Miles' command. Kane didn't even flinch but his anger was bubbling just under the surface.

"You come bustin' in here and command me to do something. Dude, you better get the fuck up outta my house..." His voice was as cool as ice with just a hint of disgust. Kissing Alec's head once again - he released her and put himself in between her and Miles.

Kane stood his full height and watched Miles with a keen eye. If there was going to be a throw down - then so be it but no one was going to come into his house and treat his guests like they were a piece of property.

Miles sensed Kane's anger and sobered up fast. The gentile kiss that he placed atop Alec's head seemed to be one of brotherly love yet his blood was far too hot for him to stand still.
He looked over at Alec standing clad in nothing but a t-shirt and boxers standing behind Kane with worry etched on her pretty face. Tears hid in the depth of her brown eyes, and Miles could taste the defeat.
" Fine. " All he spoke, his voice showing evidence of his earlier realization. His heart felt the earthshaking effects as Miles stood there facing Kane with a lightened heart.

Inside a war raged, the alpha demanded Miles take his woman and protect her, love her and give her the world, while the man wanted Alec to just be happy, he wanted to love her even from afar if that's what it took to bring a smile back to her face.
Miles lowered his head and let him arms fall to his sides the typical defeat pose offered in battle during his clan's fights. He hears Alec's shocked gasp as she realized the significance of his pose.

Lifting his head, Miles letting his anguish which grew over the years show on his face. With his mind made up Miles lunged forward towards Kane and threw the first, and final punch.

Kane was definitely surprised at Miles' action - especially the moment when he basically surrendered. Hearing Alec's shocked response made things all the stranger. Furrowing his brow the moment Miles looked up to him and Alec, Kane's quick reflexes went into action when Miles made his move.

Catching the thrown fist in his hand, Kane wrapped his fingers around Miles' balled up hand. "Really?" Kane, just as fast caught Miles by the throat with his free hand and jacked him up enough to make them eye level with each other. "Will you stop being a neanderthal... Guys like you give shifters a bad name."

Kane stayed in the awkward position - both the way he was holding Miles and that he was standing in between some weird love/hate relationship of these two people.

Words could not explain the emotions running wild for Miles. As Kane held him against the wall, the fought the urge to call upon his beast. Who at the moment was so quiet Miles was worried. Normally his other form acts as a voice or instinct while in human shape, even if quiet the presence is always felt. Now, Miles couldn't feel a damn thing.

" Whatever. " He spat at Kane, unable to control the worry and fear in his voice. Too many thoughts assaulted him, Miles didn't know if he was losing his mind or heart. Pushing against Kane, Miles attempted to release himself without provoking the man.

" I'm done here, OKAY, Leaving. " Silently and regretfully Miles added, yeah leaving her too.

Alec watched in amazement as Miles struck the defeat pose uncommon in her clan especially among the alphas. Her shock grew when the first punch was throw by Miles instead of Kane who was practically giving off the Piss Off vibe.
As Miles was throne and pinned against the wall, Alec cringed. Because of their mating they had a bond however due to Alec never 'sealing the deal' it was limited. What she sensed from Miles was nothing but defeat and pain. Rubbing her chest above her heart Alec felt his pain as if it were her own. For that much emotion to be felt by her, Miles must be feeling it ten times
This is ridiculous she thought.
Than an odor filled the room, much like an alpha being named it was electric and powerful. As soon as she smelled it, it was gone and a very human smell replaced it.
Worry really filled Alec's thoughts as she came to a realization.
Three shifters in the room, and there's a human scent. Something was up.

Stepping forward Alec placed a hand on Kane. " Just let him go, something's wrong. "
She hoped Kane would notice as well.[img][/img]

Kane shook his head as he look between the two and responded to Alec's request. He knew that something was off but he just wasn't sure what. There was a human funk here that really shouldn't have been.

In one swift motion, Kane let go of both Miles' fist and throat at the same time and it only took a moment for Kane to flip up his pointer finger in Miles' face. "What have you done?" So help me god, if you brought or were bought by a human I will gut you where you stand. It was probably best that Kane kept those thoughts to himself so in a guy move, he moved to the front to door to protect what was his.



(and what sucks is that I heard the most perfect song for this whole conversation and I can't remember what it was...grrrr or what station I heard it on...)

He stood against was wall prepared to walk out the door when his beast who was so silent roared inside tearing Miles apart. Apparently not satisfied with his decision to leave Alec. Feeling as if his soul was tearing in two. An antagonizing cry of his own escaped when the beast fell utterly silent. His presence even more silent.
The air around him shifted to a more humane scent. And their were no humans around....

Miles has heard of situations of neglect and extreme pain where the beast could and would actually hide themselves, even to the human they possessed.

One look over at Alec and the fear betrayed on that pretty face stirred all his thoughts. He could just leave without a good bye. Marching right up to her he laid a kiss on those plump lips as they parted he relished in her taste as their tongued danced a lovers tango.

" Good-bye, my pet. " and my heart.

Kane detected that the human scent was coming from within in house, not outside but he didn't dare glance back to Alec and Miles in his kitchen so he figured he would give them some space.

Walking out onto the front porch, Kane leaned against the railing taking in the sights and sounds around him - however he was blocking out the scents and sounds coming from his house.

Alec embraced Miles with all her hatred of his ways, with all the pain she carried over the years, with the sadness of losing her parents, and now with the depression of losing him.
When he whispered goodbye Alec couldn't even muster up her own farewells. Instead she kissed him once more with less passion and with more sincerity.

As Miles walked towards the door Alec felt her brain shut down, while her emotions ran wild. Even the beast inside which was always so calm, let out a whimper of pain before shutting up.

Miles walked out the door and didn't look back.

Alec stood there in shock unable to even move.

Kane watched Miles walk out the front door without so much as a backwards glance. Waiting for a moment, Kane moved to the door frame and looked Alec over. He could see her emotions running all over the board.

"Kitten - is that what you really want?" Kane was pretty sure he knew what the answer was going to be, so he stepped to the side leaving the front door wide open - just in case of course.

At Kane's questions, Alec couldn't even voice her reply. Alec didn't know what she wanted. The animal inside insisted knowing fully well what she wanted, roaring once again which is once more than usual.

It was at this moment, when time seemed to stand still that Alec realized something, well actually a few somethings. All her live, Alec wanted one thing, to be normal. And well let's face it, that is just not going to happen. She lost her father, her mother and all of her friends in the stupid attempt at normalcy. Now she was about to lose truly the one person who thought her to be normal above it in fact.
Alec loved Miles, even for his stupidity and his dominating ways. Even for his rash and often dangerous decisions. She loved the care he placed over his clan and over her as well no matter how hard she attempted to push him away. Truth is, when she meant to push the bastard away, he somehow found a way into her heart.
Where he belonged.

And finally, anger and Alec's unstoppable fury began to break through the emptiness of her soul.

How DARE he think to leave her after the promises of love, and eternal caring and forever.
How DARE he walk away intending to give up.
How DARE he capture her heart and just walk away with it.

Oh not uh! ALec was so not going to let him get away with this. Not ever.

Before she realized it, Alec was walking towards the door, thankful Kane had stepped out of the way otherwise the man would have been plowed over. In the nicest way possible of course. She looked out into the woods fully intend on smacking Miles so hard he saw stars.
But Miles was no where in sight.

It was than, all the emotions Alec locked up flooded her body. Love for the man who fought for her even as she fought him off, longing for a life she denied herself, joy at her late realization, and hope that she would be happy and complete. All completely crushed leaving only one strong, heart shattering emotion left.

True heart break.

No words escaped her, no cry of anguish, no scream of fury and no gasp of shock. Not even a breath left her lips as her eyes scanned the woods for a trace of her heart. But it was no where in sight.
Unable to hold herself up anymore, Alec crumpled to the ground.

It was a strange day when it seemed that Kane knew what Alec wanted more than her own-self. As he watched, he nodded with each passing emotion that Alec was feeling. Seemed to be right on track with a mated chicka.

As he watched her crumble to the ground, it was in Kane's nature to comfort and shelter her. Silently walking over to her, Kane picked up Alec and walked back into the house, gently and calmly reassuring her that everything was going to be okay.

"Kitten, just rest now. I'll be back in the shake of a panther's tail." He laid her on his bed and covered her up, knowing all well what he had to do next. Kissing her forehead, Kane slipped out of the room and subsequently out of the house.

In a million years Kane never thought he would have to pull this particular move - ever. Stepping into the forest, he took in his surroundings and followed the human scent of Miles.

Kane was going to call out Miles' status within the pack that he headed. Miles couldn't head the clan if he wasn't showing signs of his ranking. He knew there was probably going to some kind of hell to pay - but in this moment he didn't even give it a second thought.

Alec heard Kane's soft reassurance, however it was as if her sense of feeling had become null.

"Kitten, just rest now. I'll be back in the shake of a panther's tail."

His heavy footfalls were all she heard next as the room became quiet, and Alec slept.

Miles wasted no time running towards his car parked on the outskirts on the woods. It appears his work here was done. Obviously the recent killings of his clan would not be solved in this town and Miles did have a job to do.Find the killer, and problem solved. At least that's what he told himself as he ran through the woods and reached cement in the next moment.

He was now nearing the edge of town heading towards his clans territory with a heavy heart. Failing both himself and now the clan was a burden he could not withstand. At last minute Miles changed his direction and started for a local small town 56 miles from here. But not nearly as far as he needed to go. With every step he made, the urge to turn around and gather Alec in his arms was getting weaker but not by much.

Kane traveled swiftly and quietly through the forest, he knew the trails like the back of his hand. Miles' scent was strong and just when he thought he was close, it seemed that Miles moved up wind.

This was going to make things tougher for Kane to track him so he stopped and growled out Miles' name, Maybe Kane was close enough to get Miles' attention - yeah, he couldn't help taunting him either.

"MILES - Whatcha running from? A little kitten? You must've been one hellva pack master... Maybe I should just find out just how lousy you really were..." With that, Kane nonchalantly leaned against the closest tree.

Miles heard Kane's hollering as it was carried with the wind. While the man in Miles wanted to turn and prove, the beast was dead quiet. Stopping, Miles poured his heart and soul into this message:

Take care of her Kane.

With that Miles turned and headed out of town, his paws hitting the ground like stones as he sped away from the lights and sounds of the lively downtown. He didn't look back once.

Instead Miles thought back to the recent deaths in his clan. All were made to seem like a hunting accident however Miles knew better. They were being targeted and he didn't like it one bit.

Kane heard the whispers of Miles' request and with that, Kane stopped in his tracks. Obviously the man didn't want to be tracked, so Kane let him be.

Turning back towards his cabin, Kane took his time getting back, he wanted to let Alec rest as long as he wanted. Finally stepping up onto the porch, Kane took a seat and propped his feet up on the railing and took in the coolness of the evening.

Alec woke a short moment later. Her stomach stirred with hungry as she rose and headed out for the kitchen. After rifling through the refrigerator and cabinets what seemed the most appealing was a ham and cheese omelet with hash-browns and toast.

She heard the familiar sound of Kane's foot steps out on the porch and since this was his house, Alec thought to offer him some.

Alec walked over to the screen door and spotted Kane lounging on a chair. The screen door squeaked some as it opened however the sound was lost to the wind.

" Kane, would you like some breakfast? "

Kane glanced over his shoulder when he heard Alec at the door. "Nah, I'm good, help yourself though." Dropping his feet to the floor, Kane leaned forward and rested his forearms across his legs.

"Where is your pack meetings held, Kitten?"

Alec stood in the doorway and thought for a moment.

" well if Miles stuck to tradition,which I am 99.9% sure the pack would allow only their prescious traditions than this season the meetings are up by Padfoot's creek."

According to traditions set by her father, the clan rotated reat areas for the safety of the many members.
Curious as to why Kane asked, Alec tilted her head to lean against the door frame.

" Why do you ask? "

While Alec knew she could trust Kane with that information some paranoid habits are hard to get ride of.

Kane glanced up over his shoulder and watched Alec for a moment. He could tell that she was curious - and on top of that he thought she had a fire within her that she would be able to lead to pack if push ever came to shove.

"Padfoot's Creek... That's about an hour northwest of here, isn't it?" Now he stood and turned to her, leaning against the railing.

"Because I want to see what has become of your pack now that he seems to not want to be apart of it. I'm going to call him out to a challenge." Kane figured that it would be the only way for Miles to get his head back on straight - or else Kane would put a shoe right up Miles' ass.

Alec's eyebrows shot up with shock at Kane's declaration.
" Kane, listen Miles would sell his soul for the clan. I think he made it very clear that he wanted nothing to do with me. Not the clan. "

Alec knew Miles determination to protect the clan ran through his blood. His passion nearly rivaled her fathers it seemed.

" Just let him go Kane. " Silently Alec added, as have I.

" But if you wish go ahead. I won't stop you. "
